Guwahati: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has reiterated the state government's unwavering commitment to conducting all recruitment drives on a strictly merit-based and transparent footing, aiming to wipe out longstanding concerns about favoritism and insider appointments in state government jobs.
Speaking at a press interaction, the Chief Minister stated that the administration has instituted several procedural safeguards to ensure that every candidate gets a fair opportunity regardless of political connections or social standing. The reforms include the use of computerised ranking systems, public display of merit lists, and the establishment of grievance redressal mechanisms for applicants who believe they have been treated unfairly.
The announcement comes against a backdrop of repeated public demand for accountability in how state government vacancies are filled. Over the past few years, various civil society groups and youth organisations in Tripura had organised protests and written representations urging the administration to crack down on allegations of quota manipulation and document forgery in recruitment processes.
Senior government officials confirmed that the Recruitment Cell under the Chief Minister's Secretariat has been directed to personally monitor all ongoing selection procedures, including those for teaching posts, police constables, and clerical staff. An online dashboard displaying real-time status updates on applications, examination schedules, and final results is expected to be launched in the coming weeks.
Educationists and local politicians have welcomed the move, though some cautioned that visible outcomes would take time to materialise. Opposition voices had previously alleged that certain recruitment rounds in earlier years failed to meet transparency standards, but the current administration maintains that the new framework will prevent such lapses going forward.
