The Telangana state government has ordered a detailed investigation into a farm house associated with former Chief Minister and BRS supremo K Chandrasekhar Rao, reigniting a contentious political debate over land records and property ownership in the state.
The inquiry was announced following complaints and scrutiny regarding the legal status of land holdings connected to the farmhouse. Government sources confirmed that the relevant authorities have been directed to examine land records, ownership documents, and any procedural lapses that may have occurred during the acquisition or registration of the property.
The move has drawn an immediate and forceful response from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), which has been the dominant political force in Telangana since the state's formation in 2014. BRS floor leader T Harish Rao struck back at the government's allegation, asserting that the Reddy family, to which KCR belongs, collectively owns approximately 308 acres of land across the state — land acquired through legal means and supported by proper documentation.
Harish Rao's statement underscored the BRS's confidence in its land records and suggested that the probe was politically motivated rather than driven by genuine administrative concern. The BRS has consistently argued that its leaders have complied with all legal requirements pertaining to property ownership and have never violated any provisions of Telangana land reform laws.
