The Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) has officially announced that the online application process for the Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment re-exam, previously delayed due to multiple controversies and legal challenges, is now underway. Candidates who had applied earlier but were affected by the cancellation of the original examination process can now re-register through the commission's official portal at rpsc.rajasthan.gov.in starting May 16, 2024.
The re-examination was necessitated after the Rajasthan High Court intervened in the original SI recruitment process, which had been marred by allegations of irregularities and multiple petitions challenging the fairness of the written exam conducted in previous years. The court-directed fresh evaluation and re-examination process has finally seen the go-ahead from RPSC, making it necessary for eligible candidates to submit fresh applications or confirm their existing ones as per the updated notification.
The revised exam schedule has been released alongside the application announcement, with the written test tentatively planned for later in the year. Prospective candidates are urged to check the official RPSC notification carefully for exact dates, subject-wise distribution, and any modifications to the examination pattern compared to earlier iterations.
Eligibility criteria for the post remain unchanged — candidates must be between 21 and 40 years of age, possess a Bachelor's degree from a recognized university, and meet the physical standards and medical fitness requirements prescribed for Rajasthan police sub-inspector positions. Candidates belonging to reserved categories are eligible for relaxation in age and physical standards as per state government norms.
The application fee structure follows the standard RPSC pattern: general category candidates are required to pay ₹500, while reserved category applicants including SC, ST, and economically weaker sections enjoy a concession of ₹250. Payment can be made online through net banking, debit/credit card, or UPI. Applicants are advised to retain screenshots and acknowledgment numbers as proof of submission.
RPSC officials have stated that candidates who had previously submitted applications for the canceled recruitment cycle may not need to apply afresh if their applications are already in the system and qualify under the new notification parameters. However, they should log in to the portal and verify their status before the deadline.
This recruitment drive is expected to fill approximately 388 vacancies for Sub-Inspectors across various Rajasthan Police departments, making it one of the largest law-enforcement recruitments in the state in recent years.
