Pune police filed a sprawling 5,053-page charge sheet on Saturday at the Vadgaon Maval Court in the high-profile Ketan Aggrawal murder case, formally accusing his fiancée Siya Goyal, her lover Chetan Choudhary, and Chetan's friend Ritesh of orchestrating the young man's killing.
The charge sheet, one of the lengthiest ever filed in Maharashtra, asserts that what initially appeared to be a suicide or accidental death was in fact a carefully planned murder. According to police, Siya Goyal and Chetan Choudhary had been in a romantic relationship for some time before Ketan proposed to Siya, and the couple allegedly plotted to eliminate him to clear the path for their relationship.
Prosecutors said the investigation uncovered extensive digital evidence, including WhatsApp chat logs between the accused, photographs, and mobile phone data that collectively pieced together the timeline of events leading to Ketan's death. The charge sheet detailed how the conspiracy was developed over time and how the three accused coordinated their actions.
A particularly notable detail emerged during the probe: records show that the accused had searched online for information about the Rajaa Raghuwanshi murder case from Indore, which involved a woman and her lover conspiring to kill a man. Legal experts suggest this search could indicate the accused were researching similar criminal cases — either to understand potential legal consequences or to draw guidance from past precedents.
Both Siya Goyal and Chetan Choudhary remain in police custody. Ritesh, who is also named as an accused, has yet to be formally arraigned. The court has been asked to take cognizance of the charge sheet, after which the trial phase will begin.
The case had drawn significant public attention since Ketan's death was first reported, with many questioning how a man could die under circumstances that suggested foul play rather than self-harm. Activists and citizens' groups had repeatedly demanded a thorough investigation, which police say the charge sheet now substantiates.
