The Karnataka Crime Branch has uncovered pornographic videos and web series content on a mobile phone and pen drive confiscated from Prajwal Revanna, who is serving a life sentence for a rape conviction in Bengaluru. The discovery was made during a raid conducted by the Crime Branch on August 11 at theappa Nagar Central Jail, where officers caught Revanna actively using a mobile phone inside his cell — a clear violation of jail rules that strictly prohibit convicted prisoners from possessing such devices.
During the search, authorities seized Revanna's mobile phone along with its charger, a pen drive, and a notebook from his quarters. Forensic examination of the phone revealed multiple pornographic videos stored on the device, while the pen drive contained downloaded episodes of various web series. The findings have reignited public outrage over the conditions under which a convicted offender, particularly one serving a sentence for rape, is allegedly able to access entertainment and explicit content behind bars.
Revanna, who hails from a politically prominent family in Karnataka, is the son of JDS MLA HD Revanna and grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda. His case has remained in the national spotlight since his conviction, drawing widespread criticism from women's rights groups and political opponents alike.
