Prime Minister Narendra Modi has conveyed his warm greetings and best wishes to the Indian contingent set to participate in the upcoming Asian Games, urging the nation's athletes to give their best and bring glory to the country. In his message, Modi expressed confidence in the team's preparation and dedication, wishing them success in every event they compete in.

The Prime Minister acknowledged the rigorous training and sacrifices made by the athletes over the past several years. He highlighted that representing India at the multi-sport mega-event is a prestigious honour and encouraged the sportspersons to leave no stone unturned in pursuit of excellence.

India typically sends one of its largest delegations to the Asian Games, with competitors spanning disciplines such as athletics, wrestling, shooting, badminton, boxing, and weightlifting. The contingent usually includes both seasoned medal contenders and emerging talents who have qualified through international performances in the lead-up to the Games.

The Asian Games, organised by the Olympic Council of Asia, is the second-largest multi-sport event globally after the Olympics, featuring athletes from across the Asian continent. Held once every four years, the tournament serves as a crucial platform for nations to gauge their sporting calibre against regional rivals.

Modi's encouragement comes at a time when Indian sports have seen a significant boost in investment, infrastructure development, and institutional support over the past decade. Government initiatives such as the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) have played a role in identifying and nurturing elite athletes.

The Indian team's performance at the Asian Games has been steadily improving, with the country consistently ranking among the top medal-winning nations. At the previous edition held in Hangzhou, India recorded one of its best-ever medal tallies, underscoring the growing competitiveness of Indian athletes on the Asian stage.
