MUMBAI — The Maharashtra state government has officially announced the launch of 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan,' a comprehensive month-long campaign running from September 17 to October 17, designed to translate the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi into grassroots-level action across every district of the state. The initiative celebrates 25 years of the Prime Minister's continuous service to the nation.
According to official sources, the abhiyan will unfold through 12 distinct programs spread across key areas including social welfare, citizen empowerment, infrastructure development, and community engagement. Government officials stated that the campaign aims to ensure that the benefits of central and state government schemes reach the last person in line, with special focus on marginalized and remote communities.
The launch has been framed as a symbolic gesture honoring two and a half decades of political leadership by Modi, who first entered elected office in 1999 as a Member of Parliament from Varanasi. Supporters describe the campaign as an opportunity to showcase the developmental agenda that has defined his tenure, while critics have called it a politically motivated exercise ahead of upcoming electoral cycles.
District collectors and administrative officers across Maharashtra have been instructed to coordinate local implementations, with each of the 12 initiatives assigned to specific departments. The state government has also urged volunteer networks and local self-governance bodies, including panchayats and municipal corporations, to actively participate in outreach activities during the campaign period.
Senior ministers have emphasized that the abhiyan is not merely ceremonial but will involve tangible service delivery — including health camps, skill-development workshops, legal aid clinics, and environmental drives — throughout the month. The campaign is expected to culminate on October 17, with a statewide review meeting to assess outcomes and plan follow-up measures.
