MUMBAI: The Maharashtra government has approved a significant recruitment drive for 5,012 assistant professor positions across state universities and affiliated colleges, marking one of the largest academic hiring exercises in recent years. Alongside the announcement, the state has mandated the installation of CCTV cameras in all interview venues to ensure transparency and accountability in the selection process.
According to senior officials in the education department, the recruitment will cover government-funded and aided colleges spread across all districts of Maharashtra. The positions span various disciplines including arts, science, commerce, and professional courses. The mandatory CCTV arrangement means that every interview session will be recorded and preserved as part of the official documentation, a move designed to eliminate any scope for manipulation or favoritism.
Sources indicate that candidates will need to apply online through the state's dedicated recruitment portal. The selection process will involve a written examination conducted by the state examination body, followed by personal interviews. All interview panels will operate under continuous video surveillance, with recordings to be stored securely for audit purposes.
This initiative comes after years of complaints about irregularities in teacher recruitment across the state.
