Madhya Pradesh's National Health Mission (NHM) has initiated a major recruitment drive to fill 980 vacant Community Health Officer (CHO) positions across the state. The applications were accepted starting from 20 October 2023 through the official NHM Madhya Pradesh online portal.
Community Health Officers play a pivotal role in India's primary healthcare framework. They are stationed at health and wellness centres across rural and semi-urban areas, where they serve as the first point of contact for patients seeking medical attention. The role involves diagnosing common illnesses, providing basic emergency care, managing maternal and child health programmes, and coordinating with higher-level medical facilities when specialized treatment is required.
The recruitment notification specified that candidates must hold a recognized qualification in nursing, pharmacy, or allied health sciences to be eligible. Graduates in BSc Nursing, General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM), Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm), or equivalent diplomas were deemed eligible for the selection process. Age relaxations were offered to candidates belonging to reserved categories as per state government norms.
The selection process typically comprises a written examination followed by document verification. Shortlisted candidates will be evaluated based on their academic credentials and performance in the selection test. Successful applicants will be allotted to various districts across Madhya Pradesh depending on vacancy requirements and merit ranking.
