The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has officially published the subject-wise vacancy distribution for the Karnataka Residential Education Institutions Society (KREIS) teacher recruitment drive for 2026. The notification breaks down the total open positions between the RPC (Residential Primary Cadre) and KK (Karnataka Cadre) pools, offering clearer visibility for applicants ahead of the selection process.

According to the updated roster, the RPC cadre accounts for a substantial share of the teaching posts, particularly in senior primary and high school levels, while the KK cadre covers a broader range of subjects including science, mathematics, and languages. The authority emphasized that the distribution reflects current demographic trends, retiring faculty projections, and the state government’s push to strengthen residential education infrastructure across rural and semi-urban districts.

Candidates can access the complete vacancy list through the KEA portal, where each subject—such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, English, Kannada, Social Science, and Computer Science—is mapped against its respective cadre and regional allocation. Officials stated that the transparent release aims to reduce confusion among aspirants and help them make informed decisions about which posts they are eligible to apply for based on their qualifications and preferences.

The KREIS system, which runs a network of residential schools catering to students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, has been a priority for the state education department. Recent years have seen consistent efforts to fill vacant teaching posts to maintain student-teacher ratios and improve learning outcomes. Education experts note that timely recruitment is critical to sustaining academic quality in these institutions, especially as the 2026–27 academic session approaches.

Application windows are expected to open shortly, with KEA urging eligible graduates and postgraduates with teaching credentials to check their subject-specific openings and submit applications before the deadline.
