The Karnataka Police Department, through its State Recruitment Cell, has officially released the complete syllabus and examination pattern for the Karnataka Police Constable recruitment under the Central Armed Reserve (CAR) and Detection Anti-Racketing (DAR) cadres for the 2026 cycle. Aspirants across the state can now access the detailed subject-wise breakdown to prepare strategically for the competitive exam.

The written examination is structured to assess candidates across multiple domains, including General Knowledge with emphasis on Indian history, geography, polity, and economics, current national and state-level affairs, basic arithmetic and mental ability, reasoning and logical aptitude, and proficiency in the Kannada language. Each section carries specific weightage designed to evaluate both academic understanding and analytical thinking.

Candidates appearing for the post must meet the educational requirement of passing the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) or an equivalent examination from a recognized board. The age limit for general category candidates typically ranges between 18 and 32 years, with relaxations applicable for reserved categories as per government norms.

The selection process comprises several stages. First, candidates must clear the Computer-Based Test or written examination. Those who qualify then proceed to the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), which includes running, long jump, and other endurance-based tasks with different standards for male and female candidates. Following the PET, there is a document verification stage and a final medical examination before appointment letters are issued.

Recruitment notifications for CAR and DAR constables are conducted periodically by the Karnataka Police Department in collaboration with the State Police Recruitment Board. The CAR cadre serves under the central armed forces during federal operations, while DAR personnel focus on anti-racketing and investigative support within the state.

Experts advise aspirants to begin preparation early, focusing on Kannada grammar and literature alongside general studies, as these sections often determine merit ranking. Previous years' question papers and official guides published by state boards are recommended resources.
