India's carpet tiles market is experiencing a significant upswing, with projections indicating the sector could reach a valuation of USD 3.02 billion by 2035, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 10.2 per cent. The expansion is being fuelled by a combination of rising commercial construction activity, a cultural shift toward modular and interchangeable flooring systems, and the opening of new manufacturing facilities across the country.

Commercial fit-outs represent one of the strongest demand drivers for carpet tiles in India. As businesses expand their office footprints — particularly in major metropolitan hubs such as Bengaluru, Mumbai, Gurugram, and Hyderabad — there is a growing preference for carpet tile solutions over traditional broadloom carpets. Carpet tiles offer practical advantages including easier replacement of worn sections, modular design flexibility, and faster installation, making them increasingly popular among corporate real estate managers and interior designers.

The modular flooring trend has also gained momentum as property developers and architects seek cost-effective, sustainable, and aesthetically versatile flooring options. Carpet tiles allow for creative pattern designs and can be rotated or swapped out as designs evolve, reducing long-term maintenance costs. This flexibility aligns well with India's rapidly urbanising commercial landscape, where spaces are frequently reconfigured.

On the supply side, several new manufacturing capacities are coming online or are under development, particularly in states like Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Gujarat, which have established industrial corridors and access to raw materials. Domestic production expansion is expected to reduce reliance on imports, lower unit costs, and enable manufacturers to better serve the growing domestic demand. Industry players are also investing in product innovation, focusing on eco-friendly materials and improved durability to meet evolving consumer expectations.

Analysts note that the residential segment, though currently smaller than commercial demand, is beginning to show signs of growth as homeowners become more familiar with carpet tile benefits. Government initiatives promoting Make in India and infrastructure development are also seen as contributing factors to the optimistic market outlook.
