A well-known gym trainer in north Delhi's Delhi Nager area was attacked and killed early Monday morning by four gunmen who arrived on two separate motorcycles. The victim, identified as Vijay Kumar, was hit by four bullets, two of which struck his head. He died at the scene.
According to police sources, the accused approached Vijay Kumar around dawn when he was near his home in the Delhi Nager locality. Two bikers came from one direction while two others arrived on a second motorcycle. Without any warning, they opened fire and immediately fled the spot on their bikes. By the time bystanders and police reached the location, the shooters were long gone.
What has sent shockwaves through the community is a social media post that emerged shortly after the killing, in which a faction claiming allegiance to "Himanshu Bhau" took responsibility for the murder. The post, written in Hindi, contained a blunt warning: "Running will not work, come to the field. I will not let anyone escape." The language of the message suggests the killing is linked to a local turf or underworld dispute rather than a random act of violence.
Delhi Police have launched a full investigation into the murder. Forensic teams are examining the crime scene for shell casings, footprints, and any CCTV footage that may capture the suspects' movements. Police are also tracking down those behind the social media post, which could help identify the individuals operating under the Himanshu Bhau name.
Local residents described Vijay Kumar as a dedicated fitness instructor who had been running his gym in the area for several years. His death has left the neighborhood grieving and concerned about rising gang violence in parts of north Delhi.
