The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Corporation (GSERC) has launched a major recruitment drive for 1,239 vacancies under the post of Sikshana Sahayak, commonly referred to as Academic Assistant. The notification was issued by the State Government of Gujarat to fill critical vacancies in its school education system across the state.

Academic Assistants play a vital role in supporting the functioning of government schools in Gujarat. Their responsibilities include assisting teachers in classroom activities, managing school records and documentation, coordinating between students and teaching staff, supervising examination processes, and helping maintain day-to-day administrative tasks within the school premises. The position is considered an entry-level academic support role and has been created to strengthen the overall education delivery mechanism in the state.

According to the official recruitment notification, the selection process will be conducted through a written examination followed by document verification. Candidates who qualify in the merit list based on their examination scores will be eligible for appointment. The recruitment is expected to cover all districts of Gujarat, ensuring that government schools receive adequate academic support staff.

The age limit for applicants was set within the prescribed range as per government norms, with relaxations applicable for candidates belonging to reserved categories such as SC, ST, OBC, and physically challenged candidates, in accordance with state government policy. No application fee was required from General category candidates in many such recruitment drives of this nature, though candidates were advised to check the official notification for exact details.

The recruitment drive comes at a time when Gujarat has been actively working to improve the quality of education in government schools. Adding over a thousand academic assistants is seen as a significant step toward reducing the burden on regular teachers and ensuring that students in rural and semi-urban areas receive better academic support. GSERC is the governing body responsible for secondary and higher secondary education in the state, operating hundreds of schools across Gujarat.

Eligible candidates were encouraged to apply online through the official GSERC website within the stipulated application window. The corporation also released a detailed information bulletin outlining the complete vacancy matrix, exam schedule, and important dates for future reference.
