Police in Gurugram have registered a murder case after the body of a Delhi resident was discovered in a storm drain following reports that he had gone to meet a former female colleague and failed to return home.
The victim, identified only as Yuvraj, had been in regular contact with a woman known as Vats, who is alleged to be his former colleague. Investigators say the two maintained a close relationship that extended beyond their professional past, and that Yuvraj had traveled to Gurugram specifically to meet her.
According to police, the last known communication from Yuvraj was a phone call with Vats. After that call, he allegedly went to meet her at her residence or a nearby location in Gurugram. He was never seen again, and concerned family members eventually filed a missing person report.
Gurugram police launched a search operation, which eventually led them to a storm drain in the area where Yuvraj was believed to have last been seen. His decomposed body was recovered from the drain, prompting authorities to treat the case as a murder.
Vats has been questioned by investigators, who are examining whether she played a direct role in the killing or if others were involved. Police are also looking into Yuvraj's personal life, including the nature of his relationship with Vats, and whether there were any prior disputes or conflicts between them.
The case has raised alarm among residents in both Delhi and Gurugram about the dangers of meeting someone from one's professional past under private circumstances. Crime branches have been alerted, and forensic teams are examining the drain site for additional evidence.
