The Directorate of Education in Delhi has announced a fresh recruitment drive for 92 special teacher positions in the capital's government schools. The notification covers vacancies at three levels — Assistant Teachers, Trained Graduate Teachers (TGTs), and Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs) — signaling a push to fill critical staffing gaps in the city's educational institutions.
Candidates interested in applying must do so through the official online portal before December 7, as applications received after the deadline will not be entertained. The recruitment is aimed at strengthening the teaching workforce in Delhi's government schools, where vacancies have been accumulating due to retirements and expanded enrolment under the Right to Education framework.
While the detailed syllabus and eligibility criteria have yet to be fully specified, candidates are expected to meet the qualifications mandated by the National Council for Teacher Education. TGT positions typically require a graduate degree plus a Bachelor of Education, while PGT roles demand a postgraduate qualification alongside a B.Ed. Assistant Teachers generally need at least a bachelor's degree with teaching credentials.
The Directorate has reiterated that candidates should regularly check the official recruitment website for updates regarding exam schedules, admit card releases, and result declarations. Officials emphasized that the selection process will follow the standard merit-based procedure, with final merit lists prepared according to performance in written examinations and document verification rounds.
This recruitment drive comes at a time when the Aam Aadmi Party-led government has prioritized education reform, including infrastructure upgrades and teacher quality improvements in government-run schools across the national capital.
