Rajasthan police have taken into custody Lavnish Bainsla, the cousin of former state minister and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Kalyan Bainsla, in connection with an incident involving obscene remarks directed at a woman motorcyclist. The detainee was reportedly travelling inside a black-tinted sedan alongside Kalyan Bainsla, who was earlier detained by the police earlier in the day over the same episode.
The incident came to light after a woman biker, known publicly as Sia, alleged that she was subjected to lewd comments and harassment while riding through the streets. Video footage allegedly circulated on social media appeared to show individuals inside the vehicle making inappropriate remarks, which rapidly spread online and triggered widespread condemnation.
Local police confirmed that both Kalyan Bainsla and his cousin Lavnish were brought in for questioning. Authorities stated that a formal complaint was lodged and investigations are underway to determine the exact nature of the comments made and whether any provisions of the Indian Penal Code or the IT Act apply to the case.
The incident has drawn significant attention in Rajasthan, where Kalyan Bainsla is a prominent political figure. Opposition leaders and civil society groups have called for strict action, emphasizing that such behaviour reflects a troubling disregard for women's safety on public roads.
Lavnish Bainsla remains in police custody as the investigation continues. Police have requested that citizens refrain from circulating unverified clips and awaiting official findings before drawing conclusions.
