The central government is preparing to launch a nationwide free online coaching scheme targeting students preparing for competitive examinations, officials confirmed on Wednesday. The platform, which will go live on September 10, aims to provide quality study material and structured guidance to aspirants who often struggle with the high costs of commercial coaching institutes.
The initiative is expected to cover key subjects and exam categories, including civil services, state-level public service commissions, banking, and other national-level entrance tests. While detailed syllabus information is still being finalised, sources close to the matter indicate that the platform will feature video lectures, practice tests, and downloadable study notes available in multiple languages.
Education ministry officials stated that the programme is designed to level the playing field for students from economically weaker sections and remote areas who lack access to affordable coaching. The online framework will allow learners to study at their own pace while also offering live doubt-clearing sessions on select days.
The launch comes at a time when millions of young Indians compete annually for limited seats in government jobs and higher education institutions. Industry observers note that the scheme could significantly reduce the financial burden on families who otherwise spend lakhs of rupees on preparatory courses in cities like Delhi and Indore.
A dedicated mobile application and web portal are expected to be released alongside the launch, with registration opening shortly before September 10. Authorities have assured that the platform will remain completely free throughout its initial phase and does not plan to introduce premium subscription tiers in the near term.
