An 81-year-old resident of Mira Road in Thane district of Maharashtra has received relief in a long-running land dispute that had drawn the attention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself. Asgar Ali Woha, who reportedly studied alongside PM Modi at the BN School in Vadnagar, Gujarat, said he received a significant breakthrough just eight days after meeting the Prime Minister to lodge his complaint.
Woha first met PM Modi on September 8, raising the issue of the disputed property and requesting a CBI investigation into the matter. According to Woha's account, he shared his personal history with the Prime Minister, recounting how they had been fellow students at the same school decades ago. Following this meeting, BJP MLA Narendra Mehta of the region contacted Woha and informed him that he would vacate the contested land, surrender all construction permits related to it, and withdraw the police complaint that had previously been filed against Woha.
The land in question is located in Thane district, which falls under Mehta's political jurisdiction. The dispute had apparently involved encroachment and illegal construction activities on the disputed parcel. The MLA's decision to release possession and drop legal proceedings against Woha came as a welcome development for the elderly resident, who had been fighting the case for an extended period without resolution through regular channels.
Local sources indicate that the agreement was reached through direct communication between Mehta and Woha's representatives. The matter had gained significant public attention after Woha's meeting with the Prime Minister, which brought national media coverage to what was previously a localized dispute.
